Introduction

The discipline of Sociology focuses on studying humans in society; thus conceived it attempts to widen our understanding about the complexity of human social life and its rich variety. The Department of Sociology was established in 1982 under the chairmanship of Professor Karam Elahi (Late), a renowned scholar. It's one of the flagship departments within the faculty of social sciences at the University of Peshawar. Currently, it offers undergraduate (BS) and postgraduate (MPhil & PhD) Degrees in Sociology. The department intends to begin new undergraduate Degrees in the cognate areas of sociology.
