
Dr. Capt. (Retd) Syed Hamid Ali Shah is an accomplished academic, researcher, and former military officer with over two decades of professional experience spanning higher education, public administration, banking, and military service. He currently serves as Assistant Professor at the Quaid-e-Azam College of Commerce, University of Peshawar, where he is actively engaged in teaching, research, and student mentorship.
Dr. Shah earned his PhD in Management (Finance) from the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar, graduating with distinction. He also holds an MS in Management (Finance), an MBA in Banking and Finance, and an MSc in Economics. Prior to joining academia, he served as a Captain in the Pakistan Army, Assistant Manager at NADRA, and Deputy Director of Quality Enhancement Cell at UET Peshawar.
His research interests encompass corporate finance, capital markets, behavioral finance, corporate governance, judicial efficiency, corporate cash holdings, business groups, financial development, and emerging market finance. His doctoral research examined the impact of judicial efficiency on corporate cash holdings from an international perspective. He has authored and co-authored numerous research publications in reputable national and international journals, including Economic Modelling, Journal of Corporate Finance, International Journal of Emerging Markets, and Pakistan Business Review.
Dr. Shah has supervised and evaluated numerous research theses and scholarly projects, contributing significantly to the development of young researchers and business professionals. He is also an advocate of active learning methodologies and has presented research and teaching-related work at various national and international academic forums.
Committed to academic excellence, rigorous research, and professional development, Dr. Shah continues to contribute to the advancement of finance and business education in Pakistan through teaching, research, and community engagement.
