
Engr. Dr. Syed Azmat Ali Shah is a Lecturer at the Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM), University of Peshawar. He holds a PhD, MSc in Structural Engineering BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, a Diploma in GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of Peshawar, and a Diploma in Climate Change from IMSciences.
His teaching and research focus on disaster risk reduction, structural and earthquake engineering, climate change adaptation, GIS and remote sensing, hazard and risk assessment, and resilient infrastructure. As a disaster and structural engineering practitioner, he has actively contributed to several University of Peshawar projects implemented under the MoU with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), including the design and supervision of small-scale flood risk reduction infrastructure, GIS-based hazard mapping and GLOF risk assessment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and structural health assessments of public buildings as a Technical Member of the Assessment, Monitoring and Rehabilitation (AM&R) Committee. He has published extensively in internationally reputed journals and continues to contribute to research, teaching, and professional practice in disaster resilience and sustainable infrastructure.
