Dr. Abuzar Khan

 

Dr. Abuzar Khan has been serving in academia since 2008 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar. He completed a one year clinical job/training at Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, with rotations in the Medical, Psychiatry, and Gynecology & Obstetrics units. His professional responsibilities include teaching, clinical training, curriculum development, research supervision, and academic administration.

Dr. Abuzar Khan's research focuses on Pharmacy Practice, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economics, Health Outcomes Research, Cost of Illness Analysis, Cost-Effectiveness Analysis, Medication Adherence, Essential Medicines, Mental Health, Evidence-Based Healthcare, and Rational Drug Use. 

Dr. Khan supervises postgraduate research in the fields of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacoeconomics, with a particular emphasis on health economic evaluation and clinical outcomes research. Under his supervision, M.Phil. research has been conducted in the following areas:

• Cost of illness of breast cancer management.

• Pharmacoeconomic evaluation of hepatic encephalopathy.

• Clinical and economic evaluation of diabetic foot ulcers.

• Health economic assessment of cardiothoracic surgery.

• Drug Utilization reviews in infectious diseases.

• Economic evaluation of cardiac arrhythmias, including pacemaker therapy.

• Cost and outcome evaluation of antidepressant therapy.

• Pharmacoeconomic evaluation of anti tuberculosis (anti-TB) therapy.

• Health economic assessment of heart failure.

These studies have focused on evaluating healthcare costs, treatment outcomes, resource utilization, and the economic impact of diseases to support evidence based clinical decision making and healthcare policy.
