ABOUT

Ata Ur Rahman, PhD, MACS, MRSC, is an Ex-Diplomat and Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Sciences (ICS), University of Peshawar, Pakistan. He obtained PhD in Materials Chemistry from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China in 2011 under the Culture Exchange Fellowship program and earned a Master’s in Physical Chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Sciences (formerly Chemistry Department), University of Peshawar in 2005. Dr Ata has 15+ years of experience in teaching, research and administration. He has been serving as Assistant Professor at ICS since 2011. From 2017 to 2020, he remained as Counsellor (S&T Affairs) at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, People’s Republic of China and actively pursued S&T cooperation between the two brotherly countries. Pakistan- China bilateral science, technology and innovation cooperation witnessed unprecedented progress during his tenure. Dr Ata has published a number of research articles in renowned research journals in areas such as advanced functional materials, graphene-based composites, and catalysis. He has supervised 18 Mphil/MS and 3 PhD scholars. He has also served as a member of the Board of Studies at ICS, and a member Academic Senate and Academic Council, University of Peshawar. Dr Ata is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom.
