
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Jan is an expert in disaster and climate change resilience, disaster risk governance, and inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). With an international reputation for developing smart solutions to complex environmental challenges, he holds a PhD with specialization in disaster risk governance and equitable resilience. Dr. Mushtaq has undergone extensive specialized training in DRR, Climate Change Mitigation, Technology-Mediated DRR, and Project Management from prestigious global institutions, including the University of Salford, Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), and the SAARC Disaster Management Centre.
With over 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Jan has built a career spanning grassroots social mobilization, high-level research and academic leadership. His journey began in 2005 with UNICEF-EPI, providing a solid foundation in field-based social research and community engagement. Since joining the University of Peshawar in 2008, he has spent nearly 17 years at the Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM). During this time, he has evolved from a Research Associate to an Assistant Professor (BPS-19), a role he has held for over a decade. His career is characterized by a unique blend of "boots-on-the-ground" experience in social welfare and high-level academic expertise in DRR and climate resilience.
