The Minister for Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Meena Khan Afridi, visited the University of Peshawar and held a detailed meeting with Vice Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr. Johar Ali, Deans, Registrar, and representatives of the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA), including its President and General Secretary.

Upon his arrival, the Minister was warmly welcomed by the university administration and was presented with a bouquet.

During the meeting, various matters concerning the university were discussed, particularly the challenges related to pensions, commutation payments, salaries, and the institution's financial situation. The Vice Chancellor briefed the Minister on the measures, reforms, and financial management initiatives undertaken by the University administration to address the financial deficit, improve governance, and provide a conducive environment for quality education and research.

The Minister highly appreciated the leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts of Meritorious Professor Dr. Johar Ali in steering the university through a challenging financial period. He acknowledged the Vice Chancellor's commitment to institutional reforms and his continuous struggle for the betterment, stability, and progress of the University of Peshawar.

Regarding the financial issues, the Minister informed the participants that all pending pension and commutation liabilities accumulated up to June 30 would be cleared during the next financial year, while efforts would also be made to ensure the timely disbursement of salaries. He reiterated the provincial government's commitment to supporting the university in overcoming its financial challenges.

Emphasizing the importance of collective efforts, the Minister urged all stakeholders including faculty members, administrative staff, employees, and students—to remain united and work together for the progress of the institution.

He stressed that unity, cooperation, and mutual understanding are essential for overcoming challenges and ensuring a stronger future for the University of Peshawar.

The University of Peshawar also presented a comprehensive 63-point reform agenda aimed at addressing the financial deficit, strengthening administrative efficiency, and ensuring the institution's long-term sustainability. The Minister appreciated these reform initiatives and termed them a positive step towards financial stability and institutional development.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work collectively for the progress, stability, and academic excellence of the University of Peshawar, reaffirming its role as a leading institution of higher education in the region.
