About

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Peshawar, where I have been serving since 1999. Over the course of my academic career, I have remained committed to excellence in teaching, research, academic leadership, and professional service. My work is driven by a strong commitment to advancing the discipline of Library and Information Science through quality education, impactful research, innovation, and international collaboration.

My academic qualifications reflect a multidisciplinary and international educational background. I earned my Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Peshawar, followed by an MS in Information Studies from the University of Toronto, Canada. I completed my Ph.D. in Information Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. To complement my academic expertise, I pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from George Brown College, Toronto, a Diploma in Library & Information Science from Seneca College, Toronto, Canada; a Diploma in Human Resource Management from Conestoga College, Canada, and a Diploma in Knowledge Management in Malaysia.

As part of my graduate studies, I completed a three-month professional internship at CNN, Washington, D.C., USA, where I gained valuable international experience in information management, digital media, and professional communication within a global media organization.

With more than two decades of academic and professional experience, I have dedicated my career to developing competent information professionals, promoting scholarly inquiry, and strengthening the role of libraries and information services in education, research, and society. My areas of interest include information management, knowledge management, digital libraries, information literacy, research methods, scholarly communication, and the application of emerging technologies in library and information services.

I remain committed to fostering academic excellence, mentoring future professionals, supporting collaborative research, and contributing to the continued growth and international recognition of the Department of Library & Information Science and the University of Peshawar.

Research Interests

Research Areas of Interest

My research interests span a broad range of interdisciplinary areas within Library and Information Science, Information Management, and Digital Transformation. I am particularly interested in information management, knowledge management, organizational behaviour, information behaviour and sense-making, digital libraries, information systems design and development, information literacy and digital information literacy, and the application of artificial intelligence in libraries and information services. My research also focuses on data librarianship, data curation and research data management/mining, electronic records management, health informatics, information policy and the information economy, scholarly communication, user engagement and information-seeking behaviour, community librarianship, and embedded librarianship. Additionally, I am interested in library automation, digital transformation of information services, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches that enhance the accessibility, organization, preservation, and effective use of information resources in academic, research, healthcare, and community environments.

My teaching encompasses a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Library and Information Science, Information Management, and Digital Information Systems. My areas of teaching include information management, knowledge management, organizational behavior, research methodology, library classification, cataloguing using RDA (Resource Description and Access), MARC standards, FRBR and conceptual models, metadata, indexing and abstracting, information retrieval systems, digital libraries, digital and web archiving and preservation, organization and management of libraries and information centres, data management, research databases, institutional repositories, information ethics and academic integrity, information literacy, project management, and the application of statistical analysis using SPSS for research. I also teach emerging topics related to artificial intelligence applications, digital transformation, and innovative information technologies that prepare students to meet the evolving demands of the information profession.

I am the author of two academic books: one on Library Classification, which provides a comprehensive understanding of classification theories, systems, and practical applications in library and information centers, and another on Research Methodology, which offers a systematic guide to research design, quantitative and qualitative methods, data collection, analysis, and scholarly writing.
